Seeking quick and easy tips to jumpstart your organization journey? Grab these handy insights from the Orderleigh Home team!

1. How did you both start working together?

Sarah Brady: Leigh and I have actually known each other for years—our husbands are cousins (kind of—it’s a long story!). I started Salt in 2014, and Leigh had the brilliant idea to launch Orderleigh Home a few years later, in January 2018. I believe I was one of her very first clients, testing the waters for her new venture, and I’ve been a loyal client ever since.

Hiring Leigh and her team has been one of the best things I’ve done for myself and my family. Home organization is invaluable because it brings clarity and functionality to everyday life. Having a well-organized home makes it easier to stay on top of routines, reduces stress, and allows every member of the household to enjoy their space to the fullest. Leigh’s systems ensure that everything has a place, which makes managing our busy lives so much more efficient.

Leigh Genkinger: Sarah and I had been friends for years and I really admired how she started her own business seamlessly leaving one career for another. I was considering starting my own organizing business and I was soliciting business advice from Sarah. When I mentioned it would be focused on home organization she immediately asked to hire me! She said something like “I need you for my entire home!” She became one of my very first clients and honestly our working relationship kind of grew organically.

2. What are some ways that Salt and Orderleigh Home collaborate together?

SB: We frequently collaborate with clients who want their homes to feel completely finished, inside and out. While Salt takes care of the furnishings and design, Orderleigh Home is the perfect finishing touch—the bow on the package. For instance, after we’ve designed and installed a beautiful new home, who wants to move in and have disorganized closets, pantries, or cabinets?

Orderleigh Home steps in to help with everything from pantry organization to whole-home moves and unpacking, ensuring the entire home is as functional as it is beautiful. It’s an ideal partnership for anyone looking to create a polished and practical living space.

LG: We have worked together on various levels throughout the years. Not only has Orderleigh Home worked their way through the Brady home, we have also had our hands in all things Salt Design. Everything from assisting in design team moves, design studio changes, store organization and even helped organize the Red Bank Salt design offices.

We have many mutual clients, most of which have been direct recommendations from the Salt Design team. With clients we have worked closely to ensure the organizing products used in our clients homes enhance/compliment the overall look and feel of the spaces. We have collaborated on closet design and functionality.

When it comes to business advice, Sarah’s is second to none. And oftentimes before making any major changes in business or strategy I bounce my ideas off of Sarah.

3. What kind of clients do you work with?

LG: Honestly, all of our clients are different. However, they usually all have one thing in common. They are busy, often juggling careers and children, and don’t want to spend their valuable free time organizing.

4. If someone is going to start with one part of their house to get organized, where should they start?

LG: Like any new habit, I always suggest starting small. I wouldn’t start with your primary closet for example. Maybe your kitchen junk drawer, or under your kitchen sink. Start small, build your confidence and then tackle bigger projects.

5. What are your top three, most useful tips for getting and staying organized?

SB:
  • Hire Orderleigh Home: Professional help is transformative. They’ll create a system tailored to your home and lifestyle.
  • Declutter regularly: Take time to review what you own and let go of items you don’t use or love.
  • Invest in the right storage solutions: Use containers, bins, and labels to ensure everything has a designated place, making it easy to stay organized over time.
LG:
  • Create a system for the space that focuses on function first and foremost. It has to work in your daily life!
  • Add products that enhance the system
  • Be flexible! Needs change overtime. Don’t be afraid to make changes

6. What are the top products to recommend to clients?

LG: Obviously there are so many different products for organizing – which vary by space. However, here are some of my very favorite items to use.

    1. Clear Plastic Bins – these versatile, stackable, hardworking bins come in so many sizes and can be used to store really any category from cotton balls to holiday decor. Sturdy and strong, they are virtually unbreakable. We love using clear bins since you can easily see what is inside. Fun fact – the clear shoe bin was the number one used organizing product by our team last year. We used over 700 of them!
    2. Plastic Handled Bins – these bins have been a favorite of mine since we started the business. The sleek handled design is perfect for almost any space. We love them in pantries, closets and even use them in drawers as organizers!
    3. Drawer Organizers – These modular drawer organizers that come in a variety of sizes can help you create a custom drawer solution in almost any space.
    4. Oxford Baskets – When it comes to clothing and linen closets, these baskets are my absolute fave. They are durable, structed and create an elevated look. I also LOVE that since they were designed by professional organizers, they fit in most closets easily.

7. What are some products Leigh has introduced you to that have helped you stay organized?

SB:
  • Containers, containers, and more containers! Having a variety of well-designed bins and baskets ensures every item has a home.
  • Labels: Writing out what belongs in each container is a game-changer. It helps everyone in the household maintain the system and keeps things from getting mixed up.

8. How is having a service like Orderleigh Home helpful during the styling/install process?

SB: Leigh and her team are incredibly helpful during the final stages of a project. Knowing that Orderleigh Home will step in to create order and organization allows us to focus entirely on the creative process of styling and installing.

For example, when we finish installing furniture and accessories, Orderleigh Home steps in to organize closets, pantries, and even unpack kitchenware. They create functional systems that align with our designs, ensuring the home feels cohesive, purposeful, and ready to live in. Their expertise makes the transition seamless for our clients, who can walk into a fully styled and completely organized home. It’s the ultimate way to finish a project.
